BDC 2008

After EuroDrift became BDC, i was looking forward to competing as a Pro driver in a new series so during the winter break the excitement was building up. It was during this time that i was invited to join NightWalkers by Crosshatch and since doing so have made some great friends who help each other out and support one another.

I wanted to spruce up my s14 a little to make it a little more competetive so with the help of Mosswood Industrial Supplies i was able to get a few little bits and pieces, along with all the safety equipment needed to compete in the pro class.

First on the list was the safety gubbins, which comprised of a Full 6 point roll cage by fabricage, cut off switches, fire extingushers and tow eyes. Heres some pics of these bits.



Next up was a new seat to fit my bulk spec ass :D and some harnesess



Once all the safety equipment was added i then moved onto the handling. This came in the form of a handling package supplied by Driftworks.com which comprised of CS1 coilovers, DW's full aligment arm set which was rose joineted, solid subframe bushes and diff bushes with some poly bushes chucked in form added stiffness, i also ordered some Whiteline ARB'S and fiddled with the steering to get more lock thanks to some tein rod and rod ends. Once i had all the bits i needed the season started off with a bang and i enjoyed every minute.

The time had come

After attending various practice days I thought it was time to up my game and see how i was progressing so i decided i would have a go at competing in what was called EuroDrift. This series was aimed at amatuers and Professionals who competed in each class against other from across the UK.

I attending a license day which was held local to where i live and was awarded an amatuer licence. The next round was to be held where the licencing took place so i thought i would enter. This is where i met my buddy CrossHatch (Marc) who was one of the co-founders of NightWalkers, who i had met briefly at a practice day and told him to compete as i thought he was very skilled.

The day went ok, the venue was ideal but i didnt care. I was putting my skills against other people from across the country.

I eventually got through to the "Top 8" along with Crosshatch out of about 25 drivers but sadly didnt get further as i took the wrong line and didnt acheive what the judges wanted, but after speaking to event organiser at the end of the day he informed me that myself and crosshatch had driven well enough to be bumped up to the Pro Licence Class. Both of us were chuffed.

Soon after that event, a new championship was formed called the "British Drift Championship" (BDC) which would take the place of EuroDrift.

How it all started

I first caught the drifting bug back in late spring of 2005. My buddy and fellow NightWalker Madda (Joe) got his hands on an S14 and after watching a DVD called "The Drift Bible" he tried it out and let me try it.

From the moment I tried it I loved it! A few weeks later Madda decided it was time to sell the car on after a minor accident, so i decided i wanted it. We sourced a very clean shell from a car with a broken engine and had the engine swapped from Madda's damaged car to the clean shell. This is where I met my soon to be mucca and mechanic Buffy. He did then engine swap in one weekend and then I driving on the roads with a grin on my face.

I then began getting used to the car and started to attend practices days to hone my skills in a controlled environment.

Hi and thanks for look at my blog. I have created this blog to document my drifing career from the start in 2005 until present.

I am currently a Pro License holder in the British Drift Championship (BDC) and I drive for a local welsh team called NightWalkers, who are just a group of friends with the same interests who love to drift.
